Mount Meru Group Expands into Botswana Through Engen Acquisition Agreement

Mount Meru Group has signed an agreement through Fusion Spark Proprietary Limited to acquire Vivo Energy’s 70% shareholding in Engen Botswana Limited.

Gaborone, Botswana – 17 April 2026: Mount Meru Group has announced its entry into the Botswana market through Fusion Spark Proprietary Limited, a consortium comprising Mount Meru Group and Botswana-based businessman Ramachandran Ottapathu.

The consortium has signed a Share Purchase Agreement with Vivo Energy for the acquisition of Vivo Energy’s 70% shareholding in Engen Botswana Limited.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in Mount Meru Group’s continued growth across Africa and further strengthens the Group’s presence in the Southern African region.

Mount Meru Group Enters Botswana

The transaction follows a competitive sales process to identify a suitable investor with the financial strength, local market knowledge and downstream operating experience required to support the continued growth of Engen Botswana.

Through Fusion Spark Proprietary Limited, Mount Meru Group will combine its extensive regional experience in downstream fuel distribution with the local market knowledge and commercial expertise of Ramachandran Ottapathu.
